Job Description: PE Teacher (Nursery - Year 8)

Job Overview

The PE Teacher will be a specialist educator responsible for delivering high-quality physical education lessons to students from Nursery to Year 8. The role requires a commitment to fostering a love of sport, physical activity, and well-being while ensuring skill progression and engagement for all students. The PE Teacher will also play a key role in the school’s Co-Curricular Activity (CCA) programme, running sports teams, and supporting inter-house sports events, including sports days.

                                Key Responsibilities 

      • Plan and deliver engaging and developmentally appropriate PE lessons for students from Nursery to Year 8.
      •  Differentiate instruction to cater to students with varying skill levels and physical abilities, ensuring an inclusive environment.
      •  Promote health, fitness, and teamwork through a structured and engaging PE curriculum aligned with UK National Curriculum objectives.
      •  Lead and coach school sports teams, preparing students for inter-school competitions and tournaments.
      •  Actively contribute to the school’s CCA programme by offering high-quality sports and fitness activities.
      •  Organise and support inter-house sporting events, including sports days, ensuring broad participation and enthusiasm among students.
      •  Develop and implement strategies to encourage lifelong physical activity and well-being among students.
      •  Assess and track student progress, providing feedback to support skill development.
      •  Work collaboratively with colleagues to enhance the overall sports provision in the school.
      •  Maintain high expectations for student behavior, sportsmanship, and engagement, upholding the school’s values and ethos.
      •  Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress, participation, and sporting opportunities.


              Qualifications & Experience   

      •  A degree in Physical Education, Sports Science, or a related field.
      •  Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.
      •  Experience teaching PE across a broad age range, ideally from Early Years to Key Stage 3.
      •  Proven ability to coach and lead extracurricular sports activities and teams.
      •  Experience in planning and running school sports events, such as sports days and inter-house competitions.
      •  A commitment to inclusive and engaging PE instruction that promotes lifelong physical activity.
      •  A willingness to contribute to the wider school community and extracurricular activities.
