Job Overview

The Maths Teacher will be a specialist educator responsible for teaching and planning Maths lessons aligned with the UK National Curriculum objectives for Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3. The teacher will work within the specialist teacher model, ensuring high-quality instruction for students in Years 5-8, and will play a key role in supporting the development of numeracy across the school.

                                Key Responsibilities 

      • Plan and deliver engaging and effective Maths lessons for students in Years 5-8, ensuring alignment with UK National Curriculum objectives.
      • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of students with varying attainment levels, providing appropriate challenge and support.
      • Assess student progress through formative and summative methods, using data to inform teaching and ensure progression.
      • Work collaboratively with other Maths specialists and the wider teaching team to develop high-quality curriculum resources and schemes of work.
      • Foster a love of problem-solving, logical reasoning, and mathematical thinking in students, inspiring them to engage with mathematics confidently.
      • Support and coach class teachers in Years 1-4 in developing best practices for numeracy instruction, ensuring a strong foundation in mathematical understanding.
      • Contribute to the development of whole-school numeracy initiatives and interventions.
      •  Participate in Maths department meetings, professional development opportunities, and school-wide events.
      • Maintain high expectations for student behavior, engagement, and achievement, upholding the school’s values and ethos.
      • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress, strengths, and areas for improvement.


              Qualifications & Experience   

      •   A degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field.
      •   Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.
      •   Experience teaching Maths at Key Stage 2 and/or Key Stage 3, with a strong understanding of UK National Curriculum objectives.
      •  Proven ability to support students with different attainment levels.
      •  Experience in or willingness to support and coach other teachers in numeracy instruction.
      •  A commitment to continued professional development and reflective practice.
