Job Overview
The Maths Teacher will be a specialist educator responsible for teaching and planning Maths lessons aligned with the UK National Curriculum objectives for Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3. The teacher will work within the specialist teacher model, ensuring high-quality instruction for students in Years 5-8, and will play a key role in supporting the development of numeracy across the school.
Key Responsibilities

Plan and deliver engaging and effective Maths lessons for students in Years 5-8, ensuring alignment with UK National Curriculum objectives.

Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of students with varying attainment levels, providing appropriate challenge and support.

Assess student progress through formative and summative methods, using data to inform teaching and ensure progression.

Work collaboratively with other Maths specialists and the wider teaching team to develop high-quality curriculum resources and schemes of work.

Foster a love of problem-solving, logical reasoning, and mathematical thinking in students, inspiring them to engage with mathematics confidently.

Support and coach class teachers in Years 1-4 in developing best practices for numeracy instruction, ensuring a strong foundation in mathematical understanding.

Contribute to the development of whole-school numeracy initiatives and interventions.
- Participate in Maths department meetings, professional development opportunities, and school-wide events.
- Maintain high expectations for student behavior, engagement, and achievement, upholding the school’s values and ethos.
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress, strengths, and areas for improvement.
- A degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.
- Experience teaching Maths at Key Stage 2 and/or Key Stage 3, with a strong understanding of UK National Curriculum objectives.
- Proven ability to support students with different attainment levels.
- Experience in or willingness to support and coach other teachers in numeracy instruction.
- A commitment to continued professional development and reflective practice.
- Passionate about Maths education and committed to fostering a positive learning environment.
