We began the week with an engaging assembly showcasing Science Projects, presented by our older pupils. The confidence, creativity and depth of thinking on display were impressive and offered a glimpse of what lies ahead as we look forward to the APSR Science Fair later in the year. Encouraging curiosity, enquiry and confidence in learning is central to how we educate our young learners.
Pupils in Years 6 to 8 were also introduced to an exciting Enterprise Project, sparking enthusiasm as they begin to explore initiative, teamwork and problem-solving. Experiences like these help pupils understand that learning has purpose and relevance beyond the classroom.
Celebrating Pupil Leadership
This week saw the presentation of School Council, Eco-Warrior, House, Head Girl and Head Boy and Deputy badges, recognising pupils who have stepped forward to serve the school community. Interviews for new Prefects also took place, and I was thoroughly impressed by the maturity, confidence and sense of responsibility shown by the candidates. Developing leadership, tolerance and service is a vital part of school life and something we value deeply.
The Great Aldenham Bake Off added joy and creativity to the week, with many pupils proudly sharing their delicious creations. Events such as this build confidence, collaboration and a strong sense of belonging.
Strong Partnership with Parents
Tuesday’s Parent Workshop on Mathematics was particularly encouraging, with almost record attendance and excellent engagement. Parents gained a clearer understanding of how Mathematics, especially multiplication, is taught through a range of approaches, strengthening the important partnership between home and school.
We are already looking forward to the next workshop, French: From Bonjour to Brilliance, continuing our shared commitment to supporting learning together.
Sport, Inclusion and Opportunity
Our U13 boys and girls badminton teams enjoyed a successful competition this week, demonstrating teamwork, resilience and sportsmanship.
We were also proud to host the inaugural Inclusion Leads Meeting, welcoming delegates from schools across Riyadh to share ideas and best practice on ensuring all children can access learning successfully. Collaboration across schools plays an important role in strengthening provision for every learner.
Looking Ahead – Open Day and Community Events
We are pleased to share that we will be holding an Open Day on Saturday 7ᵗʰ February, starting at 10.30am. The morning will include talks, tours and activities across the school, offering prospective families a chance to experience the life of Aldenham Prep School Riyadh. Selected pupils will also be invited to support staff during activities, showcasing leadership, confidence and pride in their school.
We are also delighted to be taking part in the Riyadh Marathon on Saturday 31ˢᵗ January, supported by our wonderful Aldenham School Parents’ Association. This event promotes wellbeing, community spirit and participation, and we are grateful to ASPA for helping organise our involvement.
